it is stunning how bad an idea this is; there is no chance that we can make europes banks solvent. we are only weakening and endangering our own banking system. i fear the is a political angle here, keep the europeans afloat till after the 2012 elections to elect obama, and if he loses the republicans inherit the collapse and the blame for it.

this would have been a very bad thing. it is easy to say we should still have fought them to their total defeat. if we were having a city atom bombed each week i don't know if we could have sustained the war. i think there might have been some sort of negociated peace, say, a partial or complete withdrawl of western europe and the usa and england walk away. we still would have crushed japan and after germany crushed the soviet union we would have face a cold war against a vast german empire-this would have been a very bad thing...

this country of 140 million is experiencing a population implosion. the country contains 115 million russians whose population decreases by a 1.4 million a year and 25 million muslims whose population grows by about half a million a year. the birthrate of the muslims is more then 3 times that of the russians. in ten years the russian population drops below 100 million and muslims rise above 30 million, plus an illegal population of chinese in siberia with 5-10 million. how can this or any country remain stable and successful in the face of this sort or population decline and transition?
