I think that home school is way better than public school because the education is the same and you learn at your own pace and most of the time you can actually finish your home school year faster than your regular public school year. Also, my friend told me that if you do good in home school than its just as good as doing good in a public regular style school, and the socializing concept is simple, teen clubs, their everywhere and its true and you choose your own p.e.
It depends. Some students are taught at home because they don't fit into the current education system. Where home teaching is good children can learn in a more natural way -developing personal interests and folowing lines of enquiry withiout concern for SATs or other examinations. Many parents who take the role of educater do join up with other parents for social and educational activity opportunities to widen experiences and develop social skills.
Parents teach their children an amazing amount of things up to school age, why not just continue. When else in life will you be herded into a small space with people of the same age? - it just is not real life. stay home and get an education you can rely on
There are so many things to consider! If you go for home schooling (private tutoring in your home), then you are right, if you have the right teacher. The reason you learn quicker is because you receive individual one-to-one attention, which you cannot get in a class in school. At home, you do not have other distracting students, to hold you back, but there can be other distractions around your home. I think you miss out on certain social skills, and may not fully understand teamwork, and group ethics. You are certainly safer at home, no-one carrying knives or weapons, no-one is likely to bully you in your home (but they may bully you outside, more than they would in school!). I home tutor one of my students - she has learned all the practical side of her NVQ, and is now writing up her evidence under my direction, at her residence, she was initially excluded from school two years ago and placed in a 'special unit', from which she has also been excluded after assaulting a teacher! This is the only Qualification she expects to get - and only now, is seeing how much she has erred (still seems to have few regrets though, and those regrets are more of the 'poor me' type!). So I would say to anyone 'look at the bigger picture' and look from all the angles, because home schooling has its benefits, but also some drawbacks too!
