katie33, you should not have to ask that question as nearly everyone suffered under her miners, shipyards, steelworkers mostly all the working class were affected as she hated them she broke up communitys by closing the mines she hated unions because they stuck up for the workers she privatised everything she could and unemployment was the highest ever along with inflation the only ones that were better off were the middle and upper classes as with all tory governments their aim is to make the rich richer and the working class either no better or worse off my family as well as a lot of others in my area suffered badly under her there were no jobs and no money yet she still brought in the poll tax and we had to pay it or face the consequences i had 3 young children at the time it was hard i would not like to have to go through those times again when she finally dies i for one am going to celebrate with a party and i dare say i will not be the only one.

this is the type of question that is usually asked by someone who has spent the last 15 years in a remote cave with no communications from the outside world. Are you by chance, one of the last Japanese prisoners of war who hid in 1945? Every so often one emerges and asks this type of question.

Although with the benefit of age and hindsight I would have to agree that Maggie did cause many people to suffer and destroyed the power of the unions, I have to be honest and say that financialy I gained. I was serving in the Army at the time she came into power and my wages increased year after year whilst she remained.

Hello Katie33. On at least two of the forums I visit, Thatcher is a perrenial topic for debate. I doubt people will ever stop arguing about her. We can't really discuss issues easily here or I think you might find a few people prepared to rant or rave about Thatcher. And of course we live today with the legacy of the changes brought in during her time, so you could argue that people are still being affected in some way by Thatcher. Historial issues are good subjects for "discussion" here. Especially those that have an impact on our present day experience of life.

What a random and outdated question, and so stupid it deserves no answer.
