 | | | Set in Darkness - Ian Rankin | | is this feedback useful?Author's rating | | by missyminkins_UNSUBSCRIBED on 05/01/2008 | | For anyone who is a fan of the crime novels by Ian Rankin which feature the burnt out and cynical Inspector John Rebus, this is a must. It features three apparently unrelated deaths. A body dating back to the 1970's which is found in a building site, the murder of a local politician and the apparent suicide of a down and out who then turns up to have several hundred thousand pounds in his account. It becomes clear that the deaths are related and Rebus sets out to his eventual peril to determine why. There is also a sexual assault running through the story which unmasks a sexual predator of the worst kind. The end reflects the rule of rough justice and leaves Rebus with and end, albeit an unsatisfactory and painful one. | | | 1 people found this opinion useful | | 0 people found this opinion not useful |

 | | | I have almost reached the end of 'The Bone Woman' by Clea Koff which | | is this feedback useful?Author's rating | | by historywitch on 31/12/2007 | | I have almost reached the end of 'The Bone Woman' by Clea Koff which is an autobiographical account of her life as a forensic anthropologist excavating mass graves in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia. It is an extremely powerful (although not particularly well written book) and the subject matter is harrowing, not something you can sit down and read in one go. After a while you really start to question whether humans are superior to animals as at least animals dont mass kill and then bury members of their own species, having tortuted and dehumanised them first. I have learnt so much about the conflicts in these countries and the effects of genocides on countries, survivors, relatives and the individuals who have to uncover the evidence for prosecutions. At times even the hardened emotions of the anthropologist are overwhelmed by what she is seeing and these parts are very hard to read, as she builds up a ppicture of the victim from the remains left behind. | | | 2 people found this opinion useful | | 0 people found this opinion not useful |

 | | | The Summer Book by Tove Jansson | | is this feedback useful?Author's rating | | by L1nnet on 29/12/2007 | | An account of one summer spent on an island in Finland as a child by the author of the Moomintroll series of children's books. She went with her father to stay with her grandmother after the death of her mother. Simple but movingly beautiful observations of the natural world around them and the comforting yet sometimes strange behaviour of adults towards a grieving child. If you've got kids and not read the Moomintroll books, they're exquisite in their unique stories of a world inhabited by all kinds of imaginary creatures with human-like personalities in tales which are funny and fascinating yet teach so much about relationships, consequences of actions, interacting with others etc. | | | 1 people found this opinion useful | | 0 people found this opinion not useful |

 | | | high schoool musical 2 book of the film | | is this feedback useful?Author's rating | | by bexybubble on 24/11/2007 | | very good but not like the film its not very different but not the same. I t stilll keeps the romance alive with gabbriella and troy but then when sharpay starts to get evenit still follows that story line but not the entire way. Someone lese could of wrote it a bit better but not like i am saying it is rubbish it is ok but not like the best book ever. I would recommed it to peple who are like teenagers but not like adults or anything u nless you really enjoy the film you could always read your childs book when they have finished with it lol. Not the best book ever but not the worst ever so it is really mixed some people like the book and others won't its up to you to decide! | | | 2 people found this opinion useful | | 0 people found this opinion not useful |
