The new points system is live apparently, and as feared it looks like Toluna have turned this into a popularity contest! Please read the link above to see the system explained in full. You will no longer guarantee 100 points for an 80 word opinion, instead you will earn points depending on the popularity of your opinion among other users (although ‘not usefuls’ have no bearing), but considering how many of us forget to vote on opinions it could see a massive drop in points earning. I can see what they are trying to achieve, but I have grave concerns that it will backfire. They admit themselves that one person could earn more points for one opinion than another person could earn for three! This is completely unfair and is a smack in the face for all users. Despite assurances I feel that this will see many members just giving up as it is already hard enough to earn points. I really hope that I am wrong about this new system, but I have read it over many times and I just cannot see how this is of any real benefit to Toluna members, we are even going to be getting ranks! That often just serves to set some members above others and could lead to a few superiority complexes, I have seen it happen on other boards, people start throwing their rank around and act all high and mighty just because they have a badge that says they are “considerably better than you”. Please Toluna, get this right and prove me wrong!!
